Connecting Sensors
When you launch a Session in Dive, the app will guide you through how to place the sensors on your BrainBit Flex's cap. You must match the sensor locations to the correct place and in the correct order on the cap for the Protocol to measure your progress and give you the appropriate feedback. 

If you have more than one Session assigned to you by your care provider, you may need to move the sensors around when switching Sessions. 

What if my Session uses fewer than 4 or 8 sensors?

• Only connect the sensors required for your Session (keep the extra sensors in a safe place, like the case for your BrainBit)
  
• If you need the sensor for a different Session: keep the unneeded sensor attached to the cap.
  

We don't recommend letting unused sensors hang or swing freely when not in use.

BrainBit Flex or Flex8 is Missing in Dive or Disconnects During Sessions
Is your BrainBit Flex missing in Dive when you try to run a Session? Is it disconnecting during Sessions? Here are some solutions to try:

Issue #1: The session doesn't use a BrainBit Flex/Flex8.
If the image in the device connection screen isn't a Flex it means the Session isn't compatible. You'll need to use the device indicated or contact your care provider.

   

Issue #2: Battery is too low or dead.
If your BrainBit Flex/Flex8's battery is too low or dead it won't be able to connect to Dive. It will appear as though it's missing. Please try these steps:

1. Plug the charger into a power source then add the battery. 
   
2. Charge the battery until the LED is green (indicating it's fully charged) to see if you can add your BrainBit. 
   

If your BrainBit continues to disconnect after fully charging the battery, contact your care provider and let them know you may have a faulty battery. 

Battery/Connection Light
If your BrainBit Flex/Flex8's battery is flashing green it means it's not connected to Dive:

Once the device connects to Dive the light will be solid green:

   

Issue #3: Flex/Flex8 is connected to another device or app.
Troubleshooting steps:

1. Pull the battery from your Flex/Flex8 and set it aside for at least 30 seconds. 
   
2. Remove the BrainBit from your mobile device by going to Devices>View Device Info then click and hold the  Hold to Delete Device button (ignore this step if you haven't added your Headband to Dive yet). 
   
3. Reboot your mobile device. 
   
4. Put the battery back into the Flex/Flex8. 
   
5. Try to connect it in Dive by starting your Session. 
   

Things to note:
Your Flex/Flex8 can only be used by one app or mobile device. If you've connected your Flex/Flex8 to another BrainBit app or used it with a different mobile device you'll need to disconnect it from that app or mobile device. You can easily do this by pulling the battery for at least 30 seconds. 

Issue #4: permissions aren't enabled for Dive
First, check that Bluetooth has been enabled on your device:

• Go into the settings of your mobile device and select Bluetooth.
  
• If it's off, turn it on. 
  
• If it's on, try toggling it off and back on. 
  

Apple devices only: confirm your iPhone or iPad allows Dive to use Bluetooth

• Go to Settings -> Apps -> Dive
  
• Click on Dive
  
• Check if Bluetooth is toggled on.
  
• If it's off, turn it on.
  
• If it's on, try toggling it off and back on.
  

   

Next, check that location services are enabled:

Apple devices:

• Go to Settings -> Privacy & Security -> Location Services.
  
• If it's off, turn it on.
  
• If it's on, try toggling it off and back on.
  

Android devices:

• Go to Settings -> Location
  
• If Use location 
  
• If it's on, try toggling it off and back on.
  

Issue #5: you can see the BrainBit in your Bluetooth settings but it's missing from Dive.
This happens when BrainBit isn't added using the Dive app. To fix it, you must remove the BrainBit from your device's BlueTooth menu and add it using the Dive mobile application. 

Apple devices

• Settings > Privacy > Bluetooth on your iOS or iPad device and forget the BrainBit device
  

Android devices

• Swipe down from the top of the screen.
  
• Touch and hold Bluetooth
  
• If your accessory is listed under "Available media devices," next to your device's name, tap Settings
  
• If no accessories are listed under "Previously connected devices," tap See all. Next to your accessory's name, tap Settings
  
• To remove the device from your phone completely, tap Forget
  

Once this is done, re-add the BrainBit using Dive.

Issue #6: A VPN is causing connectivity issues
While VPNs are not directly related to the Bluetooth connection, some users report that deleting VPN profiles fixes the Bluetooth connection problems. VPNs can unexpectedly interfere with device configurations as they modify system and network settings, potentially causing various connectivity problems, including issues with Bluetooth.
Apple devices

• Settings > General > VPN & Device Management > VPN > Toggle the switch to "Not Connected".
  

Android devices

• Settings > Network & internet > VPN > Select the VPN that says Connected. Tap Disconnect.
  

Issue #7: A caching issue is causing problems
To clear your cache, follow these instructions in order: 

1. Uninstall Dive. 
   
2. Reboot your phone or tablet. 
   
3. Re-install Dive. 
   
4. Log in and try to start your Session again. 
   

Still missing? 
If you've exhausted the steps above and your BrainBit will not connect to Dive, there may be an issue with your device. Contact your care provider and give them the following information:

• Your BrainBit's serial number and model (i.e. Flex, Flex8 or Headband).
  
• Mobile device make (e.g. Apple or Android).
  
• Mobile device model (e.g. iPhone 16 Pro, Samsung S21, iPad, etc.)
  
• The mobile device operating system (e.g. iOS 26.0.1, Android 15, etc.)
  
• Confirm which troubleshooting steps you've completed.

Missing Signal Quality Indicators

   

If the Calibrate EEG screen doesn't show the signal quality indicators for your Session, follow these steps to resolve the issue: 

1. Go back to the home screen in Dive. 
   
2. Open the menu on the right (click on the three lines in the top left corner, the "hamburger menu").
   
3. Select “Devices”.
   
4. Wait for your device(s) to load.
   
5. Go back to the home screen in Dive. 
   
6. Close Dive. 
   
7. Relaunch Dive. 
   
8. Start your Sessions.
   
9. Connect your Flex. 
   
10. The signal quality indicators should appear. 
    

Still not working?
If you've exhausted the steps above and can't get the signal quality indicators to appear, contact your care provider and give them the following information:

• Your BrainBit's serial number and model (i.e. Flex or Headband).
  
• Mobile device make (e.g. Apple or Android).
  
• Mobile device model (e.g. iPhone 16 Pro, Samsung S21, iPad, etc.)
  
• The mobile device operating system (e.g. iOS 18.0.3, Android 14, etc.)
  
• Confirm which troubleshooting steps you've completed.
